QCIF to showcase challenges and opportunities in health data sharing and research translation at HIC 2025
19 August 2025

QCIF will be at the forefront of Health Innovation Community conference (HIC 2025), Australia’s leading digital health conference, taking place in Melbourne from 18–20 August. The event gathers innovators, researchers, and technology leaders to shape the future of healthcare.
QCIF will present two abstracts that explore the barriers and opportunities shaping Australia’s digital health landscape:
The National Research Infrastructure Ecosystem Enabling Health Research & Translation – and it’s Not All About AI
Date: Wednesday 20 August
Time: 12:50 – 1:40pm
QCIF CEO Sach Jayasinghe will explore how national investments in research infrastructure are accelerating advances in health, well beyond artificial intelligence.
Drawing on his leadership of over $5 million in research projects, Sach will outline the broad national research infrastructure ecosystem and draw on examples of cutting-edge digital technologies that pave the way for transformative impact on our health and wellbeing.
HeSANDA– a national initiative improving research data sharing
Date: Wednesday 20 August
Time: 11:15 – 12:45pm
This presentation, led by Kathy Dallest, Senior Health Informatician at QCIF, Dr Hugo Leroux, Research Scientist at the Australian e-Health Research Centre (AEHRC) within CSIRO’s Health & Biosecurity Business Unit, and Sara Gottliebsen, Research Governance Manager at Health Translation Queensland (HTQ), shares key findings from the HeSANDA (Health Studies Australian National Data Asset) program on the challenges to health and medical research data sharing.
From trust and governance concerns to technical and resourcing barriers, this session will provide critical insights to guide HeSANDA’s targeted outreach to facilitate maximising the value of existing data, enhancing the impact of research findings and accelerating research progress, whilst fostering greater collaboration
QCIF’s presence at HIC 2025 reflects our focus on tackling the practical challenges of digital health and our commitment to continue building secure, accessible, and scalable infrastructure to support researchers and clinicians.
We’re looking forward to meaningful conversations, sharing what we’ve learned, and connecting with others working to improve health outcomes through digital innovation.
