Dr Magdalena (Magda) Antczak joined QCIF as a Bioinformatician in February 2023, drawn by its diverse projects and opportunities for continuous learning. She brings expertise in immunogenomics and workflow engineering, with a strong focus on translational research.
Before QCIF, Magda was a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The University of Queensland's Frazer Institute, working with Professor Di Yu on paediatric cancer immunotherapy. Her research centred on selecting neopeptides for personalised cancer vaccines - a project she continues at QCIF as a contractor.
Magda holds a PhD in Computational Biology from the University of Kent, UK, where she studied protein function and variation. She also earned a Master's in Engineering (Financial Mathematics) from Gdańsk University of Technology, Poland, before pivoting to bioinformatics.
At QCIF, Magda collaborates with multiple research groups, helping them refine workflows and reach their scientific goals. Outside of work, she enjoys reading, is a devoted fan of Saturday Night Live, The Office, and The Wombats, and is currently learning German on Duolingo - just three minutes a day, every day.
