National Platforms
What we do
Software platforms are online services that make it easier for researchers to access the data, tools and compute they need to get their jobs done.
National software platforms are developed and iteratively advanced via deep engagement with research communities.
QCIF has a role in delivering the following National Platforms:
Key Projects
Australian BioCommons
A national digital infrastructure that focuses on establishing community-scale bioinformatics services, in response to needs identified through community engagement activities.
Current services run by Australian BioCommons’ partners include:
Galaxy Australia
a freely-available web-accessible platform that provides a broad range of bioinformatics tools, workflows and reference data sets.
Bioinformatics Tool Finder
shows where hundreds of bioinformatics tools are installed across NCI, Pawsey, UQ-RCC and Galaxy Australia.
Australian Apollo Service
provides any Australian-based research group or consortium access to a fully supported Apollo Instance to host their assembled genomes for visualisation and annotation curation.
EcoCommons
A pioneering collaborative commons, uniting researchers and practitioners in a community of practice to advance ecological and environmental analysis and modelling.
EcoCommons empowers Australian practitioners and researchers by providing access to trusted datasets, advanced modelling tools, and comprehensive training resources. This ensures high-quality, reproducible, and transparent ecological modelling that informs and accelerates evidence-based policy and decision-making for the environment.
