Erin joined QCIF in 2023 as an eResearch Specialist, bringing a diverse background in research support and data-driven problem solving. Prior to joining QCIF, she worked in academic and technical roles that spanned data management, digital research infrastructure, and training delivery, supporting researchers across disciplines.
She holds a PhD in Marine Biology from James Cook University, where she focused on the dispersal of coral larvae. Her academic journey has been shaped by a strong interest in making complex data accessible and useful for real-world research applications.
Erin is passionate about empowering researchers through digital tools and reproducible workflows. She enjoys working with R, Python and GIS tools, and has a particular interest in species distribution mapping, drone imagery analysis, and promoting the values and principles of Software Carpentry in her training delivery.
Outside of work, you’ll find Erin on or in the water! Whether diving, sailing on big boats, volunteering at the local dinghy club or teaching herself how to windsurf, if it involves sun and sea, she’s in!
