Danny joined QCIF in 2022 as a workshop assistant and instructor, teaching R and Python to researchers across disciplines. He later became a Skills Development Consultant, delivering training and consultation to support the National Research Infrastructure community. In 2025, he stepped into the role of Acting Head of Skills Development, providing strategic leadership for QCIF’s digital skills program and driving collaborations with universities and national partners.
He obtained his PhD in Chemical Sciences from the University of the Sunshine Coast in 2019, where his research investigated the authentication and anti-inflammatory properties of honeys. He also holds a Master of Data Science from UNSW, a Bachelor of Science (Honours Class I) with the Chancellor’s Medal, and a Bachelor of Environmental Science with a University Medal, both from UniSC.
Danny is passionate about researcher capability building, digital skills training, and community development. His interests span data science, AI-assisted workflows, programming in R and Python, and the design of scalable, impactful learning experiences for researchers.
When not working on training programs, Danny can usually be found travelling with his family, tracking down great food coffee, or trail running through the national parks of the Sunshine Coast.
