Alan joined QCIF in 2024 after several years working in medical research and education settings including UQ for the Queensland Brain Institute as the Institute Statistician and as a Senior Data Analyst in Aboriginal Health, and for the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre as a Statistical Analyst. Alan worked with many researchers on all stages of their research projects from the planning, ethics and grant proposals to the data collection, analysis, and manuscript submission and publication.
Originally from Newcastle, Alan obtained his Master of Medical Statistics from the University of Newcastle and also worked in various teaching roles in the statistics, mathematics and psychology departments for all levels of statistics courses from beginner to advanced. At this time, Alan developed a particular interest in survival analysis and Bayesian methodology.
Alan is passionate about advances in improvements in health delivery particularly for vulnerable communities where often data is key to problem solving. Alan is particularly passionate working closely with clinicians on the ground specifically within continuous quality improvement settings.
When Alan is not busy with statistical modelling, Alan is an avid gamer notably for TRPGs and dog dad.
