Women+ in HPC Australasia, the regional chapter of the global Women in High Performance Computing (WHPC) organisation, recently awarded two bursaries to QCIF staff, enabling them to attend the eResearch Australasia conference. This support, made possible by through funding from the Australasia eResearch Organisations (AeRO), provided an opportunity to connect with peers, share knowledge, and strengthen collaboration within the HPC and eResearch community.
WHPC+ is committed to advancing diversity and inclusion across Australia’s and New Zealand’s HPC and eResearch sectors and welcomes people from all backgrounds and perspectives beyond gender. Its mission includes increasing the engagement and representation of women in HPC, growing the number of women entering the field, and fostering collaboration among existing diversity and inclusion initiatives.
In line with these goals, Women+ in HPC Australasia offered bursaries to help professionals upskill and build valuable connections at eResearch Australasia. Among the recipients were QCIF’s Daisy Li, Software Developer, and Claire Herne, Bioinformatician.
Daisy shared her experience:
“I am very appreciative that Women in HPC (WHPC) provided this bursary for me to attend the eResearch Conference. It helped me upskill and gain a better understanding of my projects’ ideas and future development. I also had the chance to meet many people, including previous professors and remote colleagues, face-to-face.”
QCIF extends its heartfelt thanks to Women+ in HPC Australasia for their continued support in building a more inclusive and collaborative HPC and eResearch community.
