Southern Cross University commits to ongoing ReDBox deployment after successful pilot

Southern Cross University (SCU) has confirmed it will continue with Redbox as an ongoing subscriber following a successful three-month pilot program.

Southern Cross University (SCU) has confirmed it will continue with ReDBox as an ongoing subscriber following a successful three-month pilot program.

Developed and supported by QCIF, ReDBox provides powerful, flexible solutions for research data management. During the pilot, QCIF worked closely with SCU to customise ReDBox, ensuring seamless integration with the university’s existing research platforms and delivering functionality tailored to SCU’s research workflows.

A key feature of ReDBox is its ability to utilise existing sources of truth—including grant funding information, ethics approvals, researcher profiles, and other institutional data sources. By drawing on these systems, ReDBox reduces the need for researchers to enter information multiple times, cutting down on administrative burden and allowing them to focus more on their research.

The platform also supports efficient communication by automatically notifying stakeholders as a Research Data Plan progresses through its lifecycle, from creation, through approvals, to ongoing management. This ensures that all relevant parties are kept informed at each stage of the process, helping to streamline reviews and approvals.

Future work with SCU is expected to explore deeper integration of ReDBox with institutional systems via the ReDBox API, offering even greater flexibility.

Troy Lockett, Executive Manager, Enterprise Solutions at QCIF, welcomed SCU’s decision to transition from pilot to full subscriber:

“I am really pleased that SCU has decided to continue on post the pilot deployment. It shows SCU’s commitment to utilising ReDBox as part of their strategy for developing capability within research.”

ReDBox is already deployed at 13 universities and research organisations across Australia and New Zealand.

QCIF is actively expanding the ReDBox offering so that more research organisations can take advantage of the capability, flexibility, and scalability that the platform provides.

With SCU now fully on board, ReDBox continues to demonstrate its value as a trusted research data management platform that adapts to the evolving needs of the research community.
