QCIF is proud to sponsor the 25th annual Research Software Asia Australia (RSAA) conference, taking place from 17- 19 September 2025. This event brings together the research software engineering community across Asia, Australia, and New Zealand to share insights on building research applications, improving scalability, streamlining workflows, and adopting best practices in software development.
As part of our commitment to strengthening Australia’s research infrastructure and fostering collaboration, QCIF is delighted to support RSAA25 as a Silver sponsor and contribute to the conversations shaping the future of research software.
Federated learning at RSAA25
This year, our Head of Data and Software Solutions, Peter Marendy, will present a session titled “Federated Learning – Why, What, How, Where To.” His talk will highlight how Federated Learning (FL) provides a transformative approach to collaborative machine learning in an era of growing data sensitivity and regulatory complexity. By enabling models to be trained across decentralised data sources without moving the data itself, FL opens new opportunities for research where privacy, ownership, and locality are critical.
Peter brings more than two decades of experience in software engineering and research innovation, spanning CSIRO, digital agriculture, health, robotics, and visual analytics.
At QCIF, he leads a team dedicated to delivering scalable, secure, and impactful data solutions for Australian research institutions.
RSAA25 will be a vibrant forum for sharing knowledge, building partnerships, and exploring the technologies that will shape the next generation of software developers, and we are honoured to be part of this journey.
