Alejandro Bulgaris has joined QCIF in a software development and IT operations (DevOps) role.
Alejandro will split his time evenly between QCIF’s Software Solutions and Bioinformatics teams.
He is employed through QCIF member CQUniversity and based at its Adelaide campus alongside QCIF software engineer Andrew Brazzatti, the technical lead for a number of software platforms including ReDBox 2.0, QCIF’s data management tool.
Alejandro has more than 15 years of IT experience and has worked for TAFE SA, Fujitsu, Accenture and Metropolitana University in Venezuela where he gained a Systems Engineer degree and an MBA.
“In my opinion, DevOps is a very important component of software engineering practice,” said Alejandro.
“At the same time, by having a software development background and hence a developer’s mindset, I hope to bring value to the team by implementing DevOps automation and best practices by ‘coding’ as much as possible and minimising manual repetitive tasks.”
Alejandro will work with QCIF’s Software Solutions team on a number of projects, including the Bioplatforms Australia Data Portal and the ReDBox 2.0 research data management platform.
He will also work with QCIF Bioinformatics on various projects, including Galaxy Australia, the Australian BioCommons ‘Bring Your Own Data’ platform, and a genome annotation platform.
QCIF warmly welcomes Alejandro to the team.
