John Leitch and Lachlan Hoole

Lachlan Hoole (above right) has replaced John Leitch (above left) as Program Manager of QCIF’s local and national software platform activities.

John left QCIF this month to take up a role in corporate IT. John’s contribution to national software platforms and project management of QCIF’s Queensland Government grant have been important to the success of the platforms to date.

Lachlan will continue John’s work in playing a central role in the delivery of QCIF’s Queensland Data Analytics Platform (QDAP) as well as a range of national, ARDC-funded software platforms that QCIF is involved in, such as EcoCommons, Australian Characterisation at Scale, an Australian Imaging Service, and Environments to Accelerate Machine Learning Based Discovery (read more about these platforms on ARDC’s website).

“I am looking forward to exciting challenges in this new role,” said Lachlan. “I will have the opportunity to work on a broader range of initiatives that provide benefits to researchers and that shape QCIF into the future.”

Lachlan will also continue his role of the last year as Program Manager of QCIF’s Software Development Solutions (SDS) team, leading the team’s work on research data management toolReDBox and other software activities.

Troy Lockett, QCIF’s Business Development and Communications Manager, said: “John’s contribution to QDAP and the national software platforms has put QCIF in a great position to ensure Queensland researchers receive the tools they need. We wish John the very best in his new role and are confident that Lachlan will make a significant contribution to this important work.”

Lachlan, who has an MBA from the University of Southern Queensland, has worked in both the private and public sectors. Before joining QCIF, he was Operations and Program Manager for Queensland’s Livestock Exchange, a livestock management software development company.
