Prof. Robyn Ward joins QCIF’s board of directors

Prof. Robyn Ward, UQ’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) and an NHMRC council member, has joined QCIF’s board of directors.

During her career, Prof. Ward has demonstrated a sustained translational and clinical research performance at the highest level, and contributed to the development of Commonwealth and NSW health policy.

On top of her UQ, NHMRC and QCIF roles, she is also currently chair of the Commonwealth Medical Services Advisory Committee, co-chair for the Global Genomics Medicine Collaborative, and a member of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee.

QCIF CEO Dr Phil Gurney welcomed Prof. Ward: “We’re lucky to have someone of Robyn’s calibre on our board. We look forward to her contribution over the next nine months, particularly in guiding QCIF’s work to help health and life science researchers.”

Prof. Ward will be on QCIF’s board until the end of June 2018, after which time she will leave UQ to take up an appointment, announced this week, at the University of Sydney as Executive Dean of its new Faculty of Medicine and Health.

The move will mark a return to Sydney for Prof. Ward. Prior to her UQ role, she held positions at The University of New South Wales as Professor of Medicine, Clinical Associate Dean at the Prince of Wales Clinical School (UNSW) and Head of the Adult Cancer Program at the Lowy Cancer Research Centre. She was also Director of the Comprehensive Cancer Centre at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney.
