EMBL-ABR Roadshow with Monica Munoz-Torres

3–4 July 2017, Townsville & 11–13 July 2017, Brisbane

A University of California bioinformatician will present workshops in Queensland in July and will consult with local researchers on their research challenges.

Monica (Moni) Munoz-Torres, Biocuration Lead and Bioinformatics Scientist at the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, is visiting Australia to undertake a roadshow across EMBL-ABR nodes, including QCIF/QFAB and JCU.

She will offer one or two workshops tailored at each location in partnership with local presenters. Workshops include talks by Moni and local experts who will lead hands-on exercises and discussions.

QFAB will host Moni’s workshops on genome annotation and open science at Griffith University’s South Bank campus on 12 and 13 July respectively. The workshops are tie-in events with this year's UQ-based Winter School in Mathematical & Computational Biology, 3–7 July.

Brisbane consultations with Moni will be held on 11 July, with QFAB Director Dr Dominique Gorse as the local host.

JCU will host Moni’s genome annotation workshop on 3 July at its Townsville campus, with a consultation on 4 July hosted by Dr Ira Cooke.

All Queensland researchers are welcome to attend the workshops and consultations. More information and registration.
