QCIF is one of five sponsors of this year’s virtual AMSI (Australian Mathematical Sciences Institute) Winter School.

The QUT-hosted event offers a range of specialist topics in statistical data science across two weeks from 12–23 July.

“QCIF is very happy to be sponsoring an important, educational and locally-hosted data science event,” said QCIF CEO John Bancroft. “The AMSI Winter School matches QCIF’s own mission to upskill postgraduate students and researchers to meet the challenges of modern data science.”

Winter School attendees will learn about methods for fitting complex mathematical models to data and extracting insights from big and challenging data sets.

The aim of the Winter School is to develop the next generation of mathematical scientists to work in statistical data science. Speakers will help build knowledge in this field and introduce attendees to cutting-edge research and methodologies.

The event is designed for postgraduate students and early-career researchers in the mathematical sciences and connected disciplines.

QCIF is sponsoring the Winter School alongside AMSI, the federal Department of Education, Skills and Employment, and QUT and its Centre for Data Science
