The Australian government has created Data.gov.au, an easy way to find, access and reuse public data sets.

This site is to encourage public access to and reuse of public data, acting as a central site to discover public data, across multiple government entities.

A multitude and variety of data is collected and available, from public facilities such as bike ways and national parks to financial data on suburbs, mineral deposits, GIS data sets to census data. All is easy-to-access tabular, spatial and relational data with hosted APIs.

Organisations such as CSIRO, Department of Finance, Royal Australian Navy, and Bureau of Meteorology through to individual governments provide their data for use.
