 Internships 2005
QPSF provided funds to support senior undergraduate interns over the 2004-2005 summer break, for work experience on HPC related projects. QPSF has supported nine interns at member universities: CQU (1), Griffith (1), JCU(2), QUT (3) and UQ (2).

QUT, through QPSF's membership of APAC, was successful in attracting matching Commonwealth funds of $10,000. A report titled Data Grid was produced detailing the activity and achievements of the internship.

CQU's internship produced documentation focussing on Access Grids.

JCU's internship focussed on expansion of the JCU Bioportal to accommodate an ELFEN Interface.

UQ had two internships. The first project focussed on learning the basics of Molecular Dynamics Simulations . The internship established a collaborative link with Dr Annette Dexter, from the Australian Institute for Bioengineering and Nanotechnology (AIBN) for insight into new bio-inspired nanotech materials. The second project focussed on research into the fundamentals of statistical mechanics, classical nucleation theory, molecular self-assembly of amphiphiles and molecular dynamics simulation.

GU's internship focussed on PANDA, a Data Warehousing and OLAP (On-line analytical processing) project.
