QCIF Merit Allocation Scheme

The Queensland Cyber Infrastructure Foundation is a consortium of Queensland universities formed with the objective to increase the state's innovative capacity through deployment and exploitation of advanced computing and communications infrastructure.

The QCIF Merit Allocation Scheme (Q-MAS) is modelled on the APAC National Facility Merit Allocation Scheme (MAS) and has been established to allow researchers access to the QCIF HPC facilities based on merit. A substantial proportion of the QCIF HPC computational resources are available for distribution under this Scheme by the QCIF CEO Advisory Committee.

Who May Apply

Subject to the conditions of use, any staff member of a QCIF member or partner institution may apply to the Merit Allocation Scheme. Students should apply through their supervisors. Successful applicants and their project team members are eligible to use the allocations awarded by the QCIF CEO Advisory Committee.

Application Instructions

  1. Staff members need to register to become a Principal Investigator by filling out the online  PI Registration form.
    • The PI will be notified by email if their registration has been approved.
    • if the the PI indicated in the form that they requires an account on the HPC facilities, then they will be sent an email with a URL to an account request form which needs to be printed, signed and returned.
  2. The PI fills out the Q-MAS Project Application form
    • The PI needs to fill out the details for each researcher or student that requires an account on the HPC facilities. Each researcher or student will be sent an email with a URL to an account request form which needs to be printed, signed and returned.
  3. If additional researcher or students require an account, then the PI need to fill out the requests additional accounts form.
